Braised Rabbit recipe
Have you harvested rabbit or turkey this season? 🌟 Today, I’m excited to share with you a mouthwatering Braised Rabbit recipe that can be done with rabbit, wild turkey or chicken! 🐇✨
🔸 1 whole rabbit, cut into pieces
🔸 2 tablespoons olive oil
🔸 1 onion, diced
🔸 3 cloves of garlic, minced
🔸 2 carrots, sliced
🔸 1 celery stalk, chopped
🔸 1 cup red wine
🔸 2 cups chicken broth
🔸 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
🔸 2 bay leaves
🔸 Salt and pepper to taste
1️⃣ In a large, deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the rabbit pieces and brown them on all sides until golden brown. Remove the rabbit from the skillet and set it aside.
2️⃣ In the same skillet, add the diced onion, minced garlic, carrots, and celery. Sauté for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened and fragrant.
3️⃣ Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for a couple of minutes to reduce slightly. This will infuse the dish with a delightful depth of flavor.
4️⃣ Return the rabbit pieces to the skillet and pour in the chicken broth. Add the thyme sprigs and bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Give it a gentle stir to combine all the ingredients.
5️⃣ Cover the skillet with a lid and let the rabbit braise over low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours. This slow cooking process will make the meat incredibly tender and allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
6️⃣ Once the rabbit is fork-tender and the flavors have developed, remove the bay leaves and thyme sprigs from the skillet.
7️⃣ Serve the braised rabbit hot, accompanied by your favorite side dishes. It pairs wonderfully with creamy mashed potatoes or buttered noodles. Don’t forget to garnish with some fresh herbs for an extra touch of elegance!
